Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mbale University College took a bold step toward strengthening its Education Department by establishing a fully equipped Science Laboratory. At the time of reporting, the facility was in its final stages of establishment and was expected to enhance the teaching and learning of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics subjects that had long been constrained by inadequate practical facilities. The College announced that the laboratory was scheduled to become operational during the September 2026 Intake, with applications for science education programmes already underway.

For many years, the absence of a well-equipped science laboratory had compelled many aspiring students to seek admission at other universities, contributing to a decline in student enrollment at the College. The establishment of the new laboratory marked a significant turning point that was expected to restore UCU Mbale’s competitiveness and attract more students interested in science education.
Mr. Malinga George, the Coordinator and Head of the Education Department, expressed his delight at the development and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.
“Great minds are identified with potential and uniqueness. As the best private institution in the country, providing quality education to our clients remains our top priority,” he said. He added that the Science Laboratory would not only facilitate practical learning but would also provide the long-awaited solution that the public had been anticipating.
The Principal of UCU Mbale University College, Mr. Vincent Kisenyi, also welcomed the milestone, noting that it addressed a long-standing need expressed by both parents and students.
“This had been the desire of both the College and the community for a long time, and I was glad to see it come to fruition. The facility would strengthen parents’ confidence and create opportunities for students to pursue the science courses of their dreams,” Mr. Kisenyi said.
He further encouraged parents to entrust the institution with students interested in science combinations such as Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, assuring them of the College’s commitment to providing quality education. “We pledged to serve them diligently, and such milestones gave the College pride and optimism for the future,” he added.
The establishment of the Science Laboratory positioned UCU Mbale University College as one of the leading institutions for science education in Eastern Uganda and reaffirmed its commitment to providing “a complete education for a complete person.”
