The 17th Students’ Guild Government 2025/2026 of UCU Mbale University College successfully concluded its much-anticipated Cultural Gala on Saturday, 26th June 2026, at the Agape Grounds, bringing together students from eight cultural associations in a vibrant celebration of Uganda’s rich cultural diversity.

The gala featured outstanding performances from the Teso Students’ Association, Sabiny Students’ Association, Bamasaba Students’ Association, Basamia Students’ Association, Adhola Students’ Association, Bagwere Students’ Association, as well as the newly introduced Basoga Students’ Association and Karamoja Students’ Association.
Each association showcased its unique cultural identity through national and cultural anthems, folk songs, traditional attire, cultural dances, and indigenous cuisines, creating an atmosphere of unity, pride, and appreciation for Uganda’s diverse heritage.
The surprise Guest of Honour, Hon. John Musila, Member of Parliament for Bubulo East County, applauded the Students’ Guild Government led by H.E. Waiswa Isaac for promoting cultural values alongside academic excellence. In support of the Bamasaba Students’ Association, Hon. Musila made a generous contribution of UGX 1,000,000 towards the association’s activities.

Also in attendance was renowned cultural elder Davis Wakane, Chairman of the Mumbo Clan and former Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the Imbalu Circumcision Ceremonies. He encouraged students to remain proud of their cultural identities and actively participate in preserving their traditions amid the growing influence of Western culture.
Representing the Principal of UCU Mbale University College, the Academic Registrar, Mr. Timothy Akampurira, commended students for embracing unity through cultural diversity and urged them to use such events to build lasting friendships and meaningful networks.
The Ag. Dean of Students, Rev. Daniel Okello Nakoli, thanked the students for celebrating and identifying with their cultural heritage, noting that cultural diversity remains one of the institution’s greatest strengths.
The gala concluded with excitement, cultural pride, and renewed commitment among students to preserve and promote their traditions while fostering unity within the university community.
