The management, students, and sports fraternity of Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mbale University College celebrated a remarkable achievement following the outstanding performance of the University’s volleyball teams during the Eastern Region Volleyball League 2025/26 season.
The University’s women’s volleyball team emerged as league champions after a dominant and disciplined campaign that earned them the coveted gold medal. Their triumph reflected months of intensive training, teamwork, resilience, and unwavering determination throughout the season. The team displayed exceptional skill and consistency against some of the strongest sides in the region, earning admiration from fans and competitors alike.
In another impressive performance, the men’s volleyball team clinched the bronze medal after battling through a highly competitive tournament. Their achievement highlighted the continued growth and strength of volleyball at UCU Mbale and demonstrated the University’s commitment to nurturing talent both on and off the court.
Speaking after the successful campaign, the UCU Mbale Sports Administrator, Mr. Magomu Robert, praised both teams for their dedication and fighting spirit.
“This achievement was a reflection of the hard work, discipline, and commitment demonstrated by our players and coaches throughout the season. We were proud of the women’s team for bringing home gold and the men’s team for securing bronze. These victories continued to position UCU Mbale as a strong force in university sports,” he said.
He further expressed gratitude to the University management for its unwavering support towards sports development.
“We sincerely appreciated the continuous support from the University management. Their investment in sports created an environment where student-athletes could thrive academically and competitively. These achievements belonged to the entire UCU community,” he added.
Students and supporters turned up in large numbers throughout the league season, offering encouragement that motivated the teams to excel. Coaches also commended the players for maintaining discipline, unity, and focus during crucial matches.
The victories further strengthened UCU Mbale’s reputation as a centre of sporting excellence in the Eastern Region. The University continued to invest in talent development, training facilities, and competitive exposure for student-athletes across different disciplines.
As the celebrations concluded, the University community remained optimistic about future success in national competitions, with both teams expected to build on the season’s achievements and continue raising the UCU flag even higher.
