Uganda Christian University Mbale University College Hosted an Exciting Volleyball Friendly Match Against Bukedea Comprehensive School

The encounter, which featured both male and female teams from the two institutions, was not only a thrilling sporting event but also a meaningful platform for building relationships and nurturing talent. From the first whistle, the matches were characterized by intensity, discipline, and a strong competitive spirit. Players from both sides displayed impressive technical ability, with well executed serves, strategic blocks, and coordinated team play that kept spectators fully engaged. The female teams set the tone with a fast paced and skillful game, followed by an equally captivating contest from the male teams, each side pushing the other to perform at their best.

The Principal of Uganda Christian University Mbale University College, Vincent Kisenyi, was also in attendance and expressed his appreciation for the engagement, noting his satisfaction with the growing collaboration and the positive impact such interactions have on students and both institutions ‘’As we witnessed both the men’s and mixed matches, one thing stood out clearly: the spirit of teamwork and respect. Competition was present, yes but it was healthy, respectful, and rooted in learning rather than just winning’’ he said

Beyond the competition, the event was enriched by remarks from key leaders of both institutions, emphasizing the importance of partnership and shared growth. Professor Jonas Gumisiriza, the Managing Director of Bukedea Comprehensive School, expressed deep gratitude to Uganda Christian University Mbale University College for the warm hospitality and the opportunity to collaborate. He highlighted the value of the partnership, noting that it creates avenues for continuous improvement and opens doors for students from Bukedea Comprehensive to join UCU on merit. He further emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two institutions while preparing students not only for competitions but also for future academic pursuits.

On the side of the hosts, Magomu Robert, the Sports Director of UCU Mbale, appreciated Bukedea Comprehensive School for the strong and growing partnership. He acknowledged the institution’s role in entrusting UCU Mbale with its students and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting and nurturing young talent both academically and in sports.

For Bukedea Comprehensive School, the friendly match formed a crucial part of their preparations for upcoming competitions at Seroma Christian High School which is set to host the 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Ball Games 1 from April 29 to May 9, 2026, including U17 volleyball for boys and girls. The school previously competed in the 2026 USSSA Elite Games, facing opponents like Standard High School Zzana and Mbarara High School in February 2026. Their performance reflected a high level of preparation, cohesion, and determination. By the end of the day, Bukedea Comprehensive emerged victorious in both the male and female categories, a result that not only boosted their confidence but also signaled their readiness for the challenges ahead.

On the other hand, the teams from Uganda Christian University Mbale University College demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a commendable fighting spirit. Despite the outcome, the matches provided valuable learning experiences, allowing UCU players to assess their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and build competitive confidence against a well-prepared opponent.
