Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mbale University College has successfully concluded a seven-week free short course in computer training designed for Senior Six vacation students. The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to empowering young people with practical skills and preparing them for the demands of the digital age.
The training attracted enthusiastic participation from up to 180 students who chose to make productive use of their vacation. Over During the seven weeks, learners were introduced to essential computer knowledge through engaging and interactive sessions that blended theory with hands-on experience.
The program featured a well-rounded approach to learning, incorporating lectures, career guidance sessions, group assignments, and practical project work. Facilitators guided students in understanding not only computer applications but also how these skills connect to future academic and career opportunities. This training was conducted twice every week on Mondays and Tuesdays.
A key component of the training was collaborative learning. Through groThrough assignments and projects, students developed teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. This interactive environment encouraged peer learning and boosted confidence among participants.
The training culminated in project presentations, where students demonstrated the knowledge and skills they had acquired. The presentations highlighted creativity, innovation, anAchieving a clear understanding of computer concepts marked a proud moment for both learners and facilitators.
The program officially came to a close on March 31, 2026, officiated by the Academic Registrar, Mr Timothy Akampurira, and the Computing and Technology Coordinator, Mr Joseph Mutemere. The leaders applauded the students for their commitment and encouraged them to apply their newly acquired skills in their future endeavours and also encouraged them to apply to Uganda Christian University since they have tested the services of Uganda Christian University, “A Centre of Excellence in the Heart of Africa”
In their remarks, the university leadership emphasised the importance of continuous learning and adaptability in today’s technology-driven world. Students were urged to build on the foundation gained during the training as they transition into higher education and career pathways. During this time, the Academic Registrar interpreted the courses offered at Uganda Christian University to the students encouraging them to join the best private University in Uganda and beyond but also the very first to get a Charter.
The successful completion of the training marks yet another milestone in UCU Mbale’s efforts to extend learning beyond the classroom and into the community. The university remains committed to nurturing skilled, confident, and innovative individuals ready to make a meaningful impact in society.
