The event attracted participation from the Bamasaba, Basoga, Basamia, Bagwere, Adhola, Iteso, Karamojong, and Sabiny, uniting the student communities and showcasing the rich cultural diversity that exists within the University College. Students entertained the audience through football featuring both Gents and Ladies, fostering friendship and appreciation of Uganda’s Cultural heritage.

The Sports Gala was officially launched by the Chief Guest, Mr. Vincent Kisenyi, the College Principal, who commended the Guild Government for promoting unity and preserving cultural identity among students.

“We must continue to embrace our diversity and use cultural events like this as vital platforms for building lasting relationships and strengthening national cohesion,” Mr. Kisenyi urged the students.

Speaking during the awarding ceremony at the event, the student leader H.E Waiswa Isaac highlighted that the gala served as a preparatory activity for the forthcoming grand Cultural Gala slated for 26th June 2026, which is expected to bring together even more participants and spectators.

“This gala is just a glimpse of what is to come,” H.E Waiswa Isaac stated. “It serves as a wonderful preparatory foundation for our main grand Cultural Gala next week, where we expect even greater energy, more participants, and a deeper celebration of who we are.”

In the sporting competitions, the Adhola Students Association emerged overall champions after putting up outstanding performances throughout the day. Their victory was met with jubilations from members and supporters, marking a memorable achievement for the association and in history marking the first sports gala ever hosted at UCU, Mbale University College.

The Sports Cultural Gala reflected UCU Mbale University College’s commitment to nurturing holistic education by promoting cultural appreciation, teamwork, and student engagement beyond the classroom.
